COMPETITION RULES
1.  Limit:  Only one entry per person.  We will be allowing contestants to enter a "body" of work.  THE NUMBER AND SIZE OF PIECES ALLOWABLE IS AT THE DISCRETION OF WIGHTMAN SPECIALTY WOODS.  Decisions concerning a body of work will depend on the number, size and relevance of the items.  For example, an entry that is a set of carved spoons, or a set of napkin rings would constitute a body of work.  We also require that multiple items be similar and relevant to one another.  You may NOT enter pieces in multiple categories.  IF YOU WISH TO ENTER MORE THAN ONE PIECE AS A BODY OF WORK, YOU MUST HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL FROM WIGHTMAN SPECIALTY WOODS. 
2.  Size Limitations:  There are no set size limits, however if your proposed entry is larger than 6' in width, depth, height or length please contact us in advance so we can plan for display.
3.  Categories:
            FURNITURE:  Functional pieces; i.e. tables, desks, cabinets, chairs, beds, etc.
            CRAFTS:  Pieces that are primarily decorative, may also be functional; i.e. scroll work,
                              intarsia, inlay, etc. 
            CARVING: Fine art or decorative, part or all of entry must be hand-carved.
            MISCELLANEOUS: Entries not fitting any other category.
4.   There must be at least 3 entrants in a category for an entry to be judged.  The judges reserve the right to re-categorize an entry to ensure that all entries are judged.
5.   All entries must be made of wood except for joinery (hinges, etc.) or handles.
6.  A photo of each entry must be submitted on or before OCTOBER 3, 2008 to be eligible for competition.
7.  Entrants will be required to bring their pieces to Wightman Specialty Woods on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2008 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM.  The pieces will be set up and remain in a locked room until Saturday.  ENTRIES THAT ARE NOT HERE BY 7:00 PM ON FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2008 WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE.   A private judging will then take place on Saturday morning.  The doors to the competition room will open at 9:00 AM on Saturday, October 11, 2008 and prizes will be awarded shortly thereafter. Prizes in each category are as follows:
1st Prize: $150                 2nd: Prize: $100                       3rd Prize: $50                   Honorable Mention: $25                                              People's Choice: $50
8.   Entries may not be removed before 1:00 PM.
9.  Award winning entries from pervious Wightman contests are not eligible for competition.
10.  By submission of this entry form, the entrant agrees to allow Wightman Specialty Woods and its agents to photograph any entry for use in publications, advertising or any future competitions.
11.  Any participant intending to offer their entry for sale at the Open House must present a valid sales tax certificate on the day of setup.
12.  Decisions of the judges are final.
